Being a classical musician offers me the opportunity to interact with both a rich store of cultural history and an art form that lives and breathes through its contemporary practice. The versatility of the piano within this tradition has allowed me to experience a wide range of roles—I have played with choirs, orchestras, ballet dancers, chamber groups, instrumental soloists, and singers.

Just as each genre requires a considered and specially tailored approach, so too does each musician. It is my job to sense how best I can highlight the unique strengths of those I am accompanying and collaborating with. To listen to and work with somebody else’s unique musical voice and spirit is, in my view, the greatest joy in our art form.
